In the Future firmware versions thread you suggested a procedure to obtain MCUs with the new bootloader including a step by step price calculation:

1. You choose one of these MCU's:
http://uk.farnell.com/atmel/atmega32-16 ... dp/9171282
http://uk.farnell.com/atmel/atmega324p- ... dp/1455110
http://uk.farnell.com/atmel/atmega644p- ... dp/1455122
http://www.rapidonline.com/sku/Electron ... 86/73-5080
http://www.rapidonline.com/sku/Electron ... 86/73-5084

or find another place where I can buy them cheaper.
2. Add 4.95 pounds which Farnell/Rapid charges for delivery (if several persons ask for the MCU at the same time, the delivery cost can be spread or eliminated altogether).
3. Add 17.5% VAT.
4. Add postage to you (I guess around 3-10). You are welcome to suggest to me the cheapest delivery method.
5. Add 3-5 pounds of handling fee (I still need some time to handle programming/testing/postage)
6. Add 5% for Paypal tax.
7. You send me the total amount over Paypal.
8. I buy the MCU, program it and send it to you.

I'm open to all other suggestions.

At the moment this is the only known method to me to get the new Atmegas and we don't know how it would change the maths if I post my 5 ones to you for being programmed and shipped to 4 different countries.

Plus, it would make things much simpler if the guys didn't have to make two PayPal transfers each -one for the Atmegas to me and one for the programming+handling+shipping to you. My suggestion is that they should send all the money to you incl. my Ł14.64 for the Atmegas, which would cover the amount I should pay you for the programming+handling+shipping. (It's probably a little more than that, but that's ok).

I see now.
It will be ok for you to send your Atmega so that I program it and send it back to you.
It will not be ok for you to send your Atmega so that I program it and send it to a third person.

So in the end, how much, and to who should I pay?

So if you received 5 Atmegas from me you wouldn't send them to a third person, but if you received the same 5 Atmegas from farnell you would?

I can't really see the reason behind this, but it's up to you. In this case the shipping cost would be too high (from me to you and back to me and from me to the guys).

So I'll just send my Atmegas to you for programming, please PM me with the shipping address and the total fee for the 5 chips

Thanks,

Endre

In the past you already ordered two chips. As I said in the first bulk order thread in viewtopic.php?p=14789#p14789, I don't send more than 2 chips to the same person. The reason is discussed and explained in viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1251.

A friend of mine got interested too in building his own MegaDrum! Lucky me because he is really good with electronics!!! So I will be needing one for him too.
So far:

Code: Select all
timekeeper 2
dschrammie 1
kimouette  1
------------
TOTAL:     4

@el-dr You can't blame Dmitri for his attitude towards that matter! He has already explained that someone used his labor (which let's not forget he offers it to all of us for free) to make profit without his permission. Think that he could be so pissed that he could drop the project (most likely I would do so if I was in his shoes). So let's not nag too much...
Going on means going far. Going far means returning...

:?

If I understand correctly, el-dr already sent his Atmegas to you Dmitri.
So I have to make the payment to you right?

And the following post is still ok even though el-dr has to send the chips to you (and cover the shipping charges from him to you)??
Uninsured postage to EU, Russia (and maybe CIS countries):
Chip: £4.19 x 1.175 (VAT) = £4.93
Postage: £2
Handling fee: £3
Total: £9.93
Total to pay over Paypal: £9.93 x 1.05 = £10.43

:?: Dmitri, when ready, could you PM me to give me your Paypal email address?

el-dr is out of this bulk order. He will send his 2 chips only for his personal use.

No, you can get the chips only directly from me. 2 chips max per person.

:?: Dmitri, when ready, could you PM me to give me your Paypal email address?

When there are 10 chips in this bulk order, each of you PM me to get my my Paypal address.

If it is just one chip you're after and taking in account saving on Farnell's bulk order (provided at least 10 chips are ordered) then the total cost per chip will be:

Uninsured postage to EU, Russia (and maybe CIS countries):
Chip: £4.19 x 1.175 (VAT) = £4.93
Postage: £2
Handling fee: £3
Total: £9.93
Total to pay over Paypal: £9.93 x 1.05 = £10.43

Insured postage to EU, Russia (and maybe CIS countries):
Chip: £4.19 x 1.175 (VAT) = £4.93
Postage: £6
Handling fee: £3
Total: £13.93
Total to pay over Paypal: £13.93 x 1.05 = £14.63

Uninsured postage to US, Canada, South America:
Chip: £4.19 x 1.175 (VAT) = £4.93
Postage: £3
Handling fee: £3
Total: £10.93
Total to pay over Paypal: £10.93 x 1.05 = £11.48

Insured postage to US, Canada, South America:
Chip: £4.19 x 1.175 (VAT) = £4.93
Postage: £7
Handling fee: £3
Total: £14.93
Total to pay over Paypal: £14.93 x 1.05 = £15.68
