grounding the box from static esd

I'm putting MD into a metal box.
Should this box be grounded? Say to the USB and or Midi ports. Or just let it float.
I have shock concerns and damage by static.

Update: I just zapped (esd) my MD box and a cymbal sounded then the MD froze until rebooted.
Thinking of using plastic standoffs for the circuit board and grounding the chassis to the USB ground wire.. Any recommendations?
Thanks

Most PCs have noticeable current leakage via the return pins and this can affect the performance of some peripherals.
If however, you are just concerned about static then I'd leave the box floating.
