Does anyone know of a DIY design for a MIDI controller with buttons and knobs and/or sliders? Could something like this somehow be integrated into Megadrum?

No. In my opinion with the price of commercial MIDI controllers it doesn't look too tempting.

For what it's worth, there are some decent MIDI and OSC controllers for the iPhone/iPod touch, but that would only be of use if you already owned one of those devices...
