could I be having grounding issues?

I've moved my new megadrum from a plastic box enclosure to an aluminum rackmount enclosure. Since doing this I've had some strange behavior. When I plug pads in while MD is turned on I will get random letters and symbols in the LCD where the meter would be, sometimes it will just go to all blocks on the upper row. When it does this all I do is turn it off and on again and it's ok. I have also had MD crash on me if I turn it off and on quickly and I end up with a flashing lcd. Once this happens I have to re-load the firmware again and I'm up again.

To both of you, I know this seems obvious, but are you guys isolating the board from the enclosure? Even a piece of cardboard or something in between the board and the enclosure to keep the solder joints from touching it.
