One more MegaDrum firmware to test

MegaDrumTest.zip

This is a test firmware for those who has a mesh snare pad with a centrally placed piezo cone.
Warning, this firmware is not suitable for general use.

If you can test it, I'd like to get your feedback. So, what do I want you to do?
Connect a mesh snare pad with a centrally placed piezo cone to a Snare input. Configure your kit as you normally do.
For the SnareH set:
1. Retrigger to over 15.
2. MinScan to over 50.
Rest of the SnareH settings as you normally do for your snare.

Now, when you hit the snare, MegaDrum will be showing a number in the top left of the LCD.
I'd like you to collect the following stats:

When hitting the snare light.
1. Maximum, minimum, average number when hitting the mesh near the rim.
2. Maximum, minimum, average number when hitting the mesh in between the centre and the rim.
3. Maximum, minimum, average number when hitting the mesh near the the centre but NOT touching the centre cone.
4. Maximum, minimum, average number when hitting the mesh dead centre, i.e. right on the centre cone.

And all the same stats for medium and hard hits.

Thanks.

I smell positional sensing! Go, dmitri!

I would totally test this if MCT worked on Mac for sending and loading settings on my MegaDrum... but if I have to go through the menu and write down all my settings before I load this firmware, then enter all the settings back into it after the MegaDrum afterwards... (and that whole process again to go back to the latest "stable" firmware) that ends up being quite a time consuming process :(

Lemme figure something out.

Oh, and btw, it won't probably produce any useful data with Roland mesh pads unless the central piezo is reversed.

Oh shit, damn it!!! I want to try this firmware now but I cannot! :|

Thanks to my girlfriend who came yesterday to visit me, now I have a complete synthex 2.7 kit to be assembled and a 10" mesh head pad. I will try to assemble it as soon as I can to test this position sensing thing you are working in. Probably and unfortunately I will start building it in 2 weeks (the time my girlfriend is going to stay) as all of you know, girlfriends are really time-consuming
At last! an attempt to position sensing, I hope that it becomes a real feature soon.

PD: I have seen the new bootloader, I will add support in MCT by adding a new option for choosing between the 3 available bootloaders:
- The first version
- The clock-selectable version (will be only different to the previous in the popup text that is shown when you are about to update)
- The security-sysex version

I cant do the test right away because my LCD is currently not working (one of the pin is now unsoldered  ) but as soon as I fix it I'll do the test!!

Is it okay if I do the test with ONLY one snare head piezo centrally placed (under a DIY piezo cone) and no rim piezo?

That is ok.

It seems that this feature is more talked about rather than really needed.

I dont have a LCD! And the guy who lends me the solder material is never available. That's why I have not tried the firmware yet. But I will!!

But still, I dont understand why people have not done the test yet.
Wake up guys! This is probably one of the most interesting feature that could (or will?) be developed for your Megadrum!

Dmitri maybe you should change the Subject to "Megadrum POSITION SENSING firmware test" (or something like that!). If no one has volunteered yet it might be because they're not aware of the potential of this firmware!

The second I receive my All-In-One in the mail and finish it, I'll test this. It's just taking longer than I hoped to ship over here.

I've even already converted my snare over to a central crossbar design.
