Hi all,
I just received a Dmitri-made Megadrum module but I seem to be hitting a snag when I try to connect it via USB. The module receives power and boots up fine, goes to the VU meter screen and I can see the levels as I hit pads. However, when Windows 7 (64 bit) tries to install drivers for the device it fails, and in device manager it says 'Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)'. Here's what I've tried so far to troubleshoot:
- Tried my USB cable with another device to ensure it is working properly, hooked it up to a scanner and it installed drivers and worked successfully
- Tried switching USB ports, no difference
- Disabled/uninstalled the device driver and reinstalled, no difference
- Rebooted and reinstalled drivers, no difference
- Installed Megadrum config tool in attempt to update firmware, but since it can't even install successfully to be seen as a midi device I can't even do that
- Opened up the module enclosure to ensure that there were no loose or broken connections, couldn't see anything suspicious so far
- Tried connecting the module to my other computer (running Ubuntu linux), not detected there either
The last one makes me think there's something wrong with the hardware (along with the error code) but I don't even know where I should be looking to troubleshoot. I've searched forum posts for the past few hours but the only problems I've seen similar to my own involved updating the firmware ( which I can't do as far as I know ) or a USB wiring problem (everything seems connected from what I can tell). Has anyone run into this problem when building theirs?
