Latency Question w/ MacBook Pro

I just bought a 32 input MegaDrum module to use between my brand new Jobeky electronic kit and MacBook Pro. I wanted to ask you guys how you minimize latency? My computer is insanely fast for a laptop, it's optimized for video editing with 4GB RAM and a 2.4GHz processor so computer speed should not be the issue. But yeah, so what settings do you guys use to cut down on latency between hitting the drum and hearing a sound?

I think that with this type of hardware and with proper ASIO hardware/drivers you won't experience latency problems at all.

I don't think Mac needs ASIO drivers and, if I'm not mistaken, they don't exist.

What kind of latency are you experiencing? What software are you using? Explaining more about your setup and the latency you're experiencing would probably help the community help you.
We use an older Santa Rosa MBP for recording with Logic 9 and BFD2 and we're not experiencing enough latency to notice. We've recorded drums, two guitars, bass and two vocals simultaneously without hiccups.

I'm using a Megadrum with my MacBook Pro (13", 2.53 Ghz, 4Gb RAM), and it is just plug & play, no latency at all.
I don't have to configure a thing. I use Cubase Ai4 with EZ-Drummer.

I run my electric kit through a standard macbook (2.1 GHz, 1 Gb ram) and I've just been using Garageband as a drum module. When I first hooked it up I was getting some minor latency, so I installed an audio server called JACK (it's free/ open-source). There's a version out there that is specifically designed for Mac OS. This really allows you to control and cut down the latency. I've been really happy with it.
