Ordered the new 56 input megadrum kits from synthex the other day and ordered most of the parts I need to build a custom Zendrum...

Big thanks to dmitri and synthex for their guidance on a few things.

Done the 3mm routing around the edge today so the back board sits nice a flush.
Few bits and peices arrived as well.

Done most of the main cutting, just need to cut the point into something more practical and sand it all down to nice smooth edges.

Next task is deciding where to put the 55 triggers. Hopefully the megadrum kit I ordered will arrive soon and i can build it and start making prototype trigger pads to see what design works best.

Good to know someone is interested :p

Thinking about going with three different pad sizes rather than 2. And i've got another jack connector so i can connect an external bass trigger that i'm going to strap to my foot. (anyone done something like that before?)

The polypropylene sheet for the back cover has arrived, sits very nicely into the routing I did but i can see cutting it to the exact shape is going to take a lot of care a time.

Here is a pic of it just held against one of the edges. Unfortunately the texture effect on the sheet never shows up well in photos

Sanded down all the edges and cut the end to how i want it. Although i'm not sure how i can reinforce the point a keep it rounded, thinking about cutting up an aluminium can to a flat plate and then work it around it.

one of the edges got messed up during cutting so i've slapped on a bit of sawdust and pva to build it back up. Thats going to be fun to sand down once it dry.

Started painting and sanding the body, upto about 6 very thin coats and nearly gotten a smooth finish all over.

Also finished building synthex's kit and its working like a charm. For some reason bfd2 also started working on my laptop (either because of the ram i got, windows 7 rather than vista and choosing small install size). which will make it alot easier for me to config the triggers later.

ALl the pads also arrived (a lot of them) there is 40 of the larger ones and 24 of the small, i'm going to double up some of the main triggers like snare hi hats etc but i doubt i'll use all 64 :P.

Also started making the foot triggers, but no pics of them yet.

Great build! I am also just starting to build a zendrum so I am very interested in your work. It's funny I just discovered megadrum 2 days ago and only this morning (before I found this thread) thought of putting mega in zen. I am interested to see the trigger build.
