High impedance HiHat pedal is a pedal with a potentiometer over 100Kohms.
Low impedance HiHat pedal is a pedal with a potentiometer below 100Kohms.

You can try with :
Tip = HiHat controller Low impedance input
Ring = HiHat controller Power source
Sleeve = GND

I haven't build the hi hat controller yet. So I can build it in any way I like.

One more question about the hi hat controller.
Should the resistance be high when the hats are open or should it be low?
