I'm building my MD with Crazyanz and also have LCD trouble.
But my problem is a bit weird...

When I start my MD the LCD flashes.
The voltage between pin 1 & 3 jumps up and down. (Causing the flashing?)

When I start my MD with the left button pressed it works...
The voltage between pin 1 & 3 is 0.18/0.19. The LCD is really clear (easy to read).

What could be wrong?

After i resoldered some bad connections (atleast they looked bad dunno if ther were actually bad) I now have the same problem as michiel. Mine also only shows the update text when i press the left button while powering on but does not show anything when just powered on without pressing any buttons.

This should mean our atmega and lcd atleast works right?

In my experiences, this meant that my megadrum firmware had been erased but failed to load new firmware. Atmega and pic were ok. Try to reload firmware and see if you get the copyright screen. Does your pc recognize your magadrum?

But my pc did recognize my megadrum before we messed it up testing a edrum on it and trying some things with thee megadrum config tool and we probably messed up something with that tool.... is it possible to load new firmware when your pc doesnt find the megadrum?

You first have to address this:
dmitri wrote:If you don't use my version of PIC18F2550 firmware and didn't make a modification to your board as advised in http://www.megadrum.info/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=268 I won't be able to help with the USB problem. You can read more about this in http://www.megadrum.info/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=790

The soldering on the photo looks bad. If the rest of the soldering is of a similar quality you may run into problems for no apparent reason.
Can you load a firmware when you follow instructions in http://www.megadrum.info/forums/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=622 ?

I only have 47K resistors left should that work if i connect that between pin 26 of the PIC18F2550 and ground? Other question since im no expert at this do i solder it directly on pin 26 of the PIC18F2550 or on the back of the pcb?

nevermind i soldered a 47K resistor between pin 26 and ground and my pc now sees it and says its installed properly so next step is upgrading firmware :)
