ok now i see...i miss understood your first reply; so in place of the 100nf ceramic i will use the 1uf electrolytic...looks like i can return the .1 uf electrolytic. oh and the contraditory information was from google...i had found a conversion chart that showed what each value was in each unit of mesure.

thank you for your patience

In place of 100nf(0.1uf) ceramic capacitors you should use 100nf(0.1uf) ceramic capacitors. In place of 1uF(1000nf) electrolytic capacitors you should use 1uf(1000nf) electrolytic capacitors. Follow your own firs link in the first post and you'll there are no 0.1uf(100nf) capacitors in the list you were asking about, hence my reply.

This table is quite right.

Yea, sorry about that for some reason when I pasted the link it went back to the first page; on one of the other pages there was a .1 uf electrolytic capacitor. Now just to verify (I think I know the answer), I can use an electrolytic capacitor in place of a ceramic capacitor yes? I think the answer is yes, as long as I obey polarity but I want to double check…

This project has me so gun shy it’s not even funny, my wife will kill me if I drag her to one more part house or spend one more cent. :(

On a side note; do you think that anyone would be interested in a diy project enclosure? I have mocked one up in Google sketch up and have created pdf templates; though I do need to make a few tweaks as I changed the design on the fly while building, and let me tell you, if I see another piece of Plexiglas it’ll be too soon.

In short no. You should use ceramic capacitors for 100nf.

I have no idea. Start a thread and see what people think.

bugger...i was hoping that wasn't the answer...i can't seem to find any in my area...which means i'm going to have to mail order it; unfortunatly that means paying 4.5 in shipping for a couple cent componant...that is unless; do you think this component would work? http://www.radioshack.com/product/index ... Id=2062365 it is a .1uf 50v hiQ (not sure what that means) capacitor? but the temperature range seems to be a bit lower than what i've seen in all of the part lists.

i hate to keep bugging you, though i do appresiate you taking the time to respond, but as i stated above, my wife is getting a little jadded with this project. :) she just doesn't understand the coolness factor of this :) hehe

thanks

This 100nf(0.1uf) capacitor is fine.
